Thursday August 7- Online donation form

Hi !

This week’s enews is going to be different. Instead of me discussing a pain point and sharing how to turn it into an opportunity for growth, this week it’s YOUR turn.

Continuing with year-end fundraising campaigns, the three most important pages on your website are:

  • Homepage

  • About Us

  • Online donation form

I know that year-end fundraising is critical to your organization’s overall success. Your online donation form should raise max dollars from max donors. Question is: Is it and will it?

You use direct mail, email, social media, website, blog and QR codes to direct people to your online donation form.

But once there, are they giving? And if yes, are they giving max dollars?

Your mission, should you choose to accept it:

Today I’m asking you to take $20 and 10 minutes of your time. Here’s what I’d like you to do:

  1. Donate $10 to your organization (via the form on your website) using a desktop or laptop computer

  2. Donate $10 to your organization (via the form on your website) using your phone

You NEED to test out the form before you start sending tens or hundreds or thousands of people to the page!

Here’s part two of your mission: After donating, please email me your answers to the below questions OR take 90 seconds and fill in this form which asks the same questions.

  1. On a scale of 1 (very hard) to 5 (very easy), was it easy or a pain to fill in the form and submit?

  2. Were there fields that confused you or don’t need to be there? If yes, which ones?

  3. Next to suggested dollar amounts, was there a brief explanation of the impact of donating X dollars?

  4. Was there a checkbox to allow you to subscribe to your organization’s enewsletter? If yes, was the checkbox opt in (unchecked) or opt out (pre-checked)?

  5. Were you asked to help cover credit card processing fees?

  6. Were you given the choice of multiple payment methods (e.g. Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit card, Paypal) or was there only one method of payment allowed?

  7. When you submitted payment, were you taken to a landing page thanking you and/or a pop up ad saying thanks?

  8. Did you receive an immediate email thanking you for your gift? If yes, did the email open with “thank you for your donation of X dollars”?

I’d love to hear from all of you! If you have any donation form questions, email me (or add them at the end of the form) and I’ll be happy to respond.

Before your nonprofit sends anyone to your online donation form, YOU should take it for a test drive. You might find some things that need to be fixed, improved, changed or upgraded!

One of the services I offer is an Online Donation Form Boost. I examine over 50 different criteria in 7 different categories to make sure the form helps you raise max dollars from max donors. I’ll look at the form through a user’s eyes and share with you a report of what’s working and what needs to be improved.

Between now and September 8, I am offering enews subscribers a 20% discount on this service! Small cost now to gain a massive return on investment in December.

Fill in this short form and I’ll be in touch to get started.

I’ll be back next Thursday. Have a great weekend!

P.S. I listened to this song while composing the enews. Was a bit grumpyt. Wizard of Oz is my alltime favorite movie so this song put me in a much better mood.
